Hello, I’m Jes!
I live, love, and write in beautiful Victoria, British Columbia. My anthem song is Brave by Sara Bareilles. "Say what you want to say and let the words fall out, honestly." I do, on and off the page.
Creatively, I’m a romantic drama that loves to flirt with other genres and forms. I’m seeking representation and producers who are looking for a stellar, diverse portfolio.
My scripts have been finalists in multiple competitions, including top 100 with Scriptapalooza and top 15% with Coverfly. I've published fiction, nonfiction, and poetry and have won three mentorships with the BC Festival of the Arts. What’s next? Movie magic, I hope.
Besides being a prolific writer, I’m a retired teacher with a growth mindset who loves collaboration. I’m a devoted Mama, Grammy, Sis, and forever friend. I’ve kept deathbed promises, found the courage to walk away from broken ones, and volunteered with Victoria’s homeless community for years.
Because of this, I write what I know, what I’ve seen, what I fear, and what haunts me, mining my wounds and desires for stories and characters that resonate. This helps me write breakout roles and dialogue that I believe will help actors win awards.
My portfolio is grounded in well-researched, inspiring settings, from the Camino Ingles in Spain, which I walked solo, to famine workhouse museums in Ireland, coffin ship replicas, the Grosse-Isle quarantine, homeless shelters and houseboats. The right settings can help bring a script to life.
This pilgrimage of the pen needs you. If I’ve piqued your interest, please check out my pitch decks and laurels - and contact me.
Have an amazingly productive and creative day!
Ultreia! Forward, together.
Jes
