Prepare to Pitch Your Scripts Using Canva.

If I can do it, most anyone can. I’ve included an example of a one-page portfolio sampler and a two-sided sell-sheet with a movie poster.

The sampler of postcard pitches comes in handy when you’re attending events with pitching opportunities, have multiple scripts, and might be asked: “What else do you have?”

I have one that’s laminated, and a few to give away to interested producers or to screenwriters who’d like one to guide them in making their own. This one highlights that I have multiple laurel-winning scripts at a glance. Having it with me when I pitch helps keep me on point, so I feel less flustered. It reminds me that I have a lot to offer despite my insecurities.

My two-sided sell-sheets allow space for a deeper dive into the stories…

I choose the colours and fonts to fit the mood of the scripts, and add any laurels they’ve earned.

I use my own photography when possible. In this case, I scoured several image providers and added the heart to the mug.

I used highlights from longer pitches for talking points.

The QR code was a snap to obtain and add my logo to. I even had stickers of it made to leave on tables at pitching events. Arouse curiosity if nothing else.

Canva helps me create visual pitch decks as well as social media material.
